About Brittan
Brittan Dunn is a therapist and licensed clinical social worker based in New York City. After rigorous training and study at both Columbia University and the University of Virginia, Dunn offers his diverse roster of patients a unique and integrated approach to therapy.
By interweaving contemporary psychoanalytic theory with other modalities like mindfulness, Dunn has created an empowering space for all his patients to identify, verbalize, and connect with their innermost feelings. Like many of his patients, Dunn’s path has been diverse and varied, allowing him the unique and rare opportunity to experience a rich and rewarding life.
Dunn began his career as an investment banker at Credit Suisse First Boston in New York. He later spent four years in Los Angeles to pursue the craft of filmmaking, producing several films and developing his own feature film project.
Despite his success and achievements, Brittan felt adrift and alone. The catalyst for change came abruptly. After surviving a near death experience and the death of his mother, Brittan realized the path he had been pursuing was both lonely and unfulfilling.
This moment marked the beginning of his journey into therapy as well as planted the seeds for self-growth and personal cultivation. In 2013, Dunn made the decision to devote himself to psychoanalysis and to be in service of other people’s healing journeys. He returned to New York City for his studies at Columbia University of Social Work, graduating in 2015.
Today he is a fellow at the American Psychoanalytic Association and also, the founder of his own private practice in Brooklyn.
As a practicing therapist for more than 9 years, he has had the pleasure of treating senior creatives, business leaders, professional athletes, women entrepreneurs, young men, and people from all walks of life.
His success stories include supporting senior leaders as they re-balance their business life with their personal life; helping single women in their 30s and 40s find their life partner and start families; mentoring young men in their 20s as they come of age; and assisting artists as they open up space for creativity and find their own voice.
